MUNICIPAL BOARD

May 11, 2021

A regular meeting of the Municipal Water and Sewer Board of the Village of Lowville was held on May 11, 2021. The meeting was called to order at 6:09 PM by Mr. Joseph Zehr.

Approval of Minutes:

Motion by Mr. Comet, seconded by Mr. Kraeger to approve the minutes of the April 13th, 2021 regular meeting. All in favor.

Old Business:

§ Phase II WWTP Upgrade:

§ Supt. Denise reported that the bids were advertised today. The Phase II project schedule was presented to the Board for their information. Supt. Denise stated that because of the tight time schedule, he fears prices may be higher. Mr. Zehr reported that they want to have the lagoons dewatered during the dry season if possible. The lagoons need to be clean and fairly dry before they put the liners down. The Village will request a reduction in the tipping fees for the sludge, as was in place for the Phase I project.

§ Groundwater Well Development Project:

§ Mr. Zehr reported that the NYSDOH would like the well water treatment system to be separate. There would be a treatment system down by the Youngs Pond pump station. The water may need some chlorine and a small Ph adjustment. We are still working with Jay Billings to get an application in to the State to be able to get more water off of the current watershed.

New Business:

§ Timber Sale:

§ The Village will not pursue a timber cut this year. Although lumber prices are high, timber prices are staying stable.

§ New Bremen Water Issue:

§ Supt. Denise informed the Board of a water pressure issue at a property in the Town of New Bremen District near our watershed. Supt. Denise has contacted the Town of New Bremen Supervisor to inform him of this ongoing issue. The property owner has been told to contact the Town of New Bremen.

§ Shady Avenue Sewer Issue:

§ Supt. Denise informed the Board of a property on Shady Ave. that has had an issue for the last couple of years of water in the basement. They have a floor drain hooked into the sewer lateral. The Village has been there numerous times and the homeowner has been told that the sewer lateral needs to be cleaned. The pump in the basement is sending sewage through the hose coming out of the house into the street. NYSDEC has been notified of the situation and will be coming up to check it out.
